what was I thinking? this is a hard job!

well, the reality of homeschooling is this is hard! How can one person possibly teach 4 kids different ages, different learning styles and different personalities in one day? I do try though. I have a schedule on my wall, they have expectations and they do waver from them often, or forget, or try to manipulate or do less than I expect just to get it done. Why are they in such a hurry to get it done and not enjoy the journey? Actually now that I say that, I have discovered that my girls love school and my boys think it is a waste of time. My job never stops though. I have to purposely take a break in my locked bedroom or I will go crazy! Now that spring is here they have been going outside more often which is lovely!! I am feeling it is a time of transition. Something new, something different. Next weekend me and Larry are going to a homeschool conference all day long. It may be exhausting, but also a wealth of information. We usually do a field trip once a week. It gives us a chance to get out of the house and learn about our environment or area. The kids love it! Larry asked them the other day if they want to be homeschooled or go back to school. They prefer to be homeschooled, but like today, I have nothing good to brag about because there were more fighting, disagreeing and complaining. You could call it sibling rivalry. They just need to work things out among each other and love, but that takes time and prayer. I think tonight I will have them pray for each other. We got a new pet, Angora rabbits. I can see us learning so much this summer with having rabbits, starting our first garden, and harvesting and spindling the fur. Trinity is learning how to crochet and we found we can use the rabbit waste to fertilize our grass and garden. exciting stuff. I guess learning doesn't stop, it is just a matter of pacing yourself, not getting too carried away and enjoying the process. Willing subjects help, so maybe I will look into more hands on experiments instead of paperwork.
